The twentieth session of the FIFA Council approved the dates for the Under-17 World Cup to be held in Peru next year. This was confirmed by the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) through a statement on its website and social media.
In that sense, the governing body of world football specified that the tournament will be held between November 10 and December 2. During that time, the 24 participating teams (the 'Blanquirroja' has a guaranteed spot as the host and the others are yet to be determined) will compete to lift the coveted trophy.
It is important to mention that this competition was originally scheduled to be played in 2021, according to FIFA's calendar. However, the date was changed due to the pandemic.
It is also worth noting that this will be the second time Peru hosts the Under-17 World Cup. In 2005, it was the host and was placed in the same group as Ghana, Costa Rica, and China, but was eliminated after drawing against the African team and losing to both the 'Ticos' and the Asian team, respectively.
