In an interview with the program 'Fútbol Como Cancha' on RPP Noticias, the president of the Peruvian Football Federation defended the 'team of everyone' by stating that both the coaching staff, players, and other representatives did everything possible to bring a new joy to the country.
"It would not be fair to classify not going to the Qatar 2022 World Cup as a 'failure'. We must value the effort of the coaching staff, players, and fans. This should serve us to improve," commented the head of Peruvian soccer.
As can be seen throughout the Qualifiers, Ricardo Gareca's team went from strength to strength, which led them to play the playoffs against Australia almost a month ago. Unfortunately, in the course of the game, the 'bicolor' could not find themselves and ended up losing on penalties after a 0-0 draw in regular time.
Although this generated a lot of expectation, the 'blanquirroja' could not achieve their second consecutive qualification, so now they must prepare for the 2016 World Cup to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
