As usual after FIFA periods, the highest entity in world football will release a new update of the ranking for October 2021 on Thursday, October 21. How will the Peruvian national team fare? There is no need to wait to find out.
The renowned statistician MisterChip anticipated the move and published on his social media what the new rankings of the teams will be. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best outcome for the national team.
After only earning three out of nine possible points (winning against Chile and losing to Bolivia and Argentina), Ricardo Gareca's team failed to maintain the 21st position it held in the September rankings.
On this occasion, the Peruvian national team dropped three places and is now in 24th position. The South American teams that surpass it are Brazil (#2), Argentina (#6), Uruguay (#15), Colombia (#16), and Chile (#21). Below them are Paraguay (#38), Venezuela (#50), Ecuador (#55), and Bolivia (#78).
Changes in the rankings
Unlike the last ranking, now the Peruvian national team finds itself below the 'Roja' (Chile), despite winning against them in Lima. The difference lies in the fact that Chile won the other two matches.
On the other hand, Belgium remains the leader of the FIFA rankings, followed by Brazil, just like in September. England, who held the third position, dropped to fifth, allowing France and Italy to each move up a spot.
