Peru Celebrates Flag Day

This Tuesday, June 7, Peru celebrates Flag Day. This date pays tribute to the main national symbol of our country in commemoration of the anniversary of the Battle of Arica in 1880, when Peruvian troops faced those of Chile.

As a result, different state institutions publish greetings on social media to celebrate the day, but an international message like that of AS Monaco was not expected.

The European principality club published a composition on its social media platforms showing the Peruvian flag waving in its stadium, the Luis II Stadium. It also carries the message: Happy Flag Day, Peru!, a gesture that aroused admiration from Twitter users.

Mónaco and its approach to Peru

This is not the first time that Kylian Mbappé's former team has shown a gesture towards our country, as in August 2020, the Ligue 1 club tweeted a video showing player Henry Onyekuru performing a bicycle kick. Many teams around the world use the term 'bicycle kick' to refer to the famous football move, but the Monegasque club added the following phrase: "Let's go with a Chalaca!"

Another aspect that relates the country protected by France with Peru are the colors of its flag. Both the European principality and our nation share red and white. Although in different forms, it is something that awakens a common bond.
