The former vice president of Emelec, Edmundo Véjar, criticized the current club president, José Pileggi, after the defeat against Delfín that left the blues still in the relegation zone.
"Mr. Pileggi, focus on saving the category. All the work and economic resources should be destined for football. The other sports are not significant or a priority. Emelec is a big team and should represent it as such," expressed Véjar on his X account.
His criticism is directed at the board working for other sports disciplines that the club has, which, according to the former executive, is unnecessary considering the current situation of the football team.
In the accumulative table, el Bombillo occupies the third-to-last position and is tied with Libertad and Guayaquil City with 17 points. Only goal difference sets them apart, and things are getting complicated as both teams at the bottom won in the fourth round.
Sr Pileggi, enfóquese en salvar la categoría. Todo el trabajo y los recursos económicos deben estar destinados al fútbol. Los otros deportes, no son trascendentes ni prioritarios. Emelec es un equipo grande y debe representarlo como tal.
