Does the Peruvian national team endanger?
In the last few hours, the Byron Castillo case has caused a great stir, not only in Chile and Ecuador, but also in the Peruvian national team. After FIFA's statement, in which it invites the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) to present its position, there has been uncertainty about the inclusion of Peru in this case.
Eduardo Carlezzo speaks about it
Eduardo Carlezzo, lawyer of the National Professional Football Association (ANFP) of Chile, spoke about it. The legal expert expressed surprise at the FPF's citation and indicated that it should be due to a possible impact on the Blanquirroja in the case of the 23-year-old young footballer.
"I understand that potentially it has been identified that among several sanctions, some could affect Peru. Out of extreme caution and to avoid nullities, they were summoned" (...) I was surprised by the inclusion of Peru, but I understand what FIFA did," he declared at a press conference.
How would the table look if Ecuador loses points?
If FIFA confirms irregularities in the case of Byron Castillo and decides to punish Ecuador, they could deduct the points from the matches in which the player participated.
In this way, Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay would not suffer major changes in the South American qualifying table; however, Chile would be the great beneficiary by climbing to fourth place with 24 points, just like Peru; however, due to goal difference, the Blanquirroja would be in the playoff zone.
Ecuador's lawyer about Chile's claim
Celso Vásconez, lawyer of the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF), assured that Chile's claim lacks foundation.
"Ecuador's position is strong, with support from the Judiciary, while Chile has investigative processes that did not conclude the annulment of a document," he expressed on Radio La Red 102.1.
Jhonny Baldovino talks about the Castillo case
The legal advisor of Safap talked about how the Byron Castillo case would affect Peru.
"The Byron Castillo case can in one way or another favor Peruvian football, especially the Peruvian national team. Peru is positioned between Ecuador and Chile. Any result could positively affect the Peruvian national team. The decision made will not harm in any way, in the worst case scenario Peru will play fifth and will play in the playoff," he said for Latina Deportes.
