To the surprise of many, Georges St-Pierre assures that he probably will not fight in middleweight after winning the title
"We will have to talk about it, but I don't think I will return to middleweight. In terms of weight, if I want to, I will do it. But I don't think it's a good thing to do. I forced myself to eat to gain muscle mass. I have always been against performance-enhancing drugs and I moved up to another weight division in the most natural way. It was very difficult and it wasn't healthy."
For sure, many people think it is an excuse to not defend the title, because now, without demeaning Michael Bisping, the best fighters in the division were going to come after him. One example is Chris Weidman, who said that his colleague would not defend the title.
"Really no one believes he will defend the title. Despite Dana White saying he will. There is no certainty about who will be the champion next year. I don't know who I will take the title from, but I guarantee it won't be GSP. His next opponent will be Tyron Woodley or Conor McGregor. GSP always finds a way to mock people."
Yesterday we published the recent words from Chael Sonnen about GSP's future.
"I think he will fight against Robert Whittaker. That's what Georges signed in his contract to fight Michael Bisping. I know things change in this business, but I hope Georges is a man of his word, because Whittaker will accept the fight and Dana White said it will happen. I also believe that if there is a bigger fight that Georges can make, there will be a conversation about it, although I think it's a little difficult. Because what the rules of the sport say is that when you have a healthy champion and an interim champion, they have to fight each other. Also, UFC does not like to make interim titles. We'll see what happens. Although if they suddenly could make a Conor McGregor vs. Georges St-Pierre fight, we all have an open mind."
