Guerrero could not beat Luan in America's Best Player poll
The 'Predator', Paolo Guerrero, could not defeat Luan in the election for the best player in America according to the survey conducted by El País newspaper. The Brazilian was far ahead of the player from the Peruvian national team who will be present in Russia 2018: 182 votes for Luan (49.46%) compared to 65 (17.66%) for Paolo Guerrero.
Surprisingly, Paolo Guerrero received great support in the voting despite being suspended since November and not being able to qualify with the Peruvian national team for the World Cup, because he did not play in the playoff matches.
Luan ended the year with 9 goals in 32 games. It is worth mentioning that Luan is not a center forward, as he plays as a winger or attacking midfielder. Undoubtedly, his best performance was against Lanús in the Copa Libertadores with two goals at La Fortaleza in Buenos Aires.
The podium was completed by Arthur, a player wanted by Barcelona, who received a total of 46 votes after his great performances in the Copa Libertadores. The Brazilian missed the Club World Cup due to an injury.
