18th Round of Clausura Tournament

The 18th round of the Clausura Tournament leaves the possibility for Universitario to be crowned champions. After the draw with Cusco FC in the Imperial City, the team has a solid opportunity to advance to the final for the Liga 1 title. On the other hand, Sporting Cristal lost their chance to compete for the title by falling to Cienciano, and Alianza Lima, who drew with ADT, can only wait for their rival in the grand final.

Cienciano defeated Sporting Cristal 1-0 on their own turf in Cusco during the penultimate round of the Clausura Tournament. Universitario leads with 36 points. Argentine Danilo Carando scored the winning goal for the Cusco team in the 90th minute, with a precise shot after a play that originated in the center of the field.

This defeat could leave Cristal out of contention for the Clausura title since they needed to win to surpass Universitario de Deportes, led by Uruguayan Jorge Fossati. The "celestes" remain with 33 points, occupying the fourth position.

Only the Universitario de Deportes team depends on themselves.
