Sport Boys Sanction - Liga 1 Betsson 2023

Sport Boys Sanctioned with Point Deduction by the License Committee

The License Committee of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) has decided to sanction Sport Boys with a deduction of four points in the accumulated table of Liga 1 Betsson 2023. This is due to several infractions that the pink team would have committed in relation to the current Licensing Regulations. If this sanction is confirmed, the team from Chalaco would occupy the 16th position with 34 points, with only one match remaining for Liga 1 Betsson to end, and would be just one point away from the relegation zone.

The License Committee made this decision based on the alleged violation of Article 76.1 of the Licensing Regulations, resulting in the first deduction of two points for Sport Boys. Additionally, two additional points were deducted due to an alleged violation of Article 73.2 of the same regulations. In both cases, Sport Boys also received a fine of five UIT.

The club has the option to appeal this resolution of the License Committee within a period of three calendar days, in accordance with the provisions of Article 86 of the Regulations for the Granting of Licenses to Professional Football Clubs of the Peruvian National Sports Federation. The appeal must be submitted through the FPF Virtual Reception Desk.

The resolution was signed by the members of the License Committee, Eduardo Romero, César Ramos, José Yarlequé, César Ulloa, and Andrés Antezana.

Despite Sport Boys' 1-0 defeat in their match against Sport Huancayo on matchday 18 of the Clausura on October 22, the team accumulated 38 points, keeping them safe from relegation. However, if the four points are effectively deducted from the accumulated table, Sport Boys would be left with 34 units, just one point ahead of Unión Comercio, who are in the direct relegation zone along with Municipal and Cantolao. As a result, Sport Boys must win their match against Cienciano on matchday 19 to secure their stay in the league.

The match between Sport Boys and Cienciano is scheduled for Saturday, October 28, at 3:15 p.m., at the Miguel Grau stadium in Callao.
