Chants, smiles, celebrations, champagne popping, and hugs in the midst of red and white shirts reflect the feelings of the crew of the Peruvian sailing team who have just qualified for the 2022 Bahrain Sailing World Championship. Yes, they could and they achieved it on the final day of races in the Star Sailors League Gold Cup held on Lake Neuchatel in the city of Granson, Switzerland.
The sailing team was led by captain Stefano Peschiera and coach Javier Arribas. Our excellent crew consisted of sailors such as Alonso Collantes, Florencia Chiarella, Jean Paul de Trazegnies, Joaquín Razetto, Augusto Nicolini, Luis Olcese, Christian Sas, Eduardo Cano, Javier Arribas Harten, Javier Arribas Leigh, and Ismael Muelle.
On the penultimate day of competition, Peru had the opportunity to qualify and be in the Bahrain World Championship. It all depended on the national sailors, who achieved victory on Sunday. The athletes won the final race and qualified in first place, with Chile in second. Uruguay and Venezuela finished in the following positions.

"We are very happy. We have formed a great team, the conditions at the beginning were not favorable for us, but we managed to bounce back. We never lost sight of our goal and this victory goes to our country, our families, and all the people who have been following this qualification process. These have been days of great effort, but also of unity and sacrifice. Thank you, Peru, thank you all. We are already in the Sailing World Championship," said Stefano Peschiera, filled with emotion.
Javier Arribas, coach of this crew, said: "We have a great team where everyone has followed the instructions to the letter. We have had very tough rivals, but the objective has been achieved. This is for Peru, let's enjoy it."
