The victory of Alianza Universidad by 2-1 against San Martín ended with a controversial penalty in favor of the huanuqueño team converted by Lionard Pajoy. As a result of this decision, 'Fútbol Como Cancha' from RPP Noticias contacted Álvaro Barco and he considered that there was malicious intent in the referee's performance. He also highlighted the importance of equal competition.

"I'm tired of this. The penalty awarded to Durán is absurd, the machinery has already started and things are being distorted. What this man has done is very malicious, it is impossible for him to have made a mistake. I will report it in all the media because there must be fair competition, with equality for everyone. It can't be that there are these kinds of referees," he said.

On the other hand, Álvaro Barco lamented the behavior of some referees when asked about their decisions. Finally, he regretted not having any explanation for the San Martín players when they questioned why they are the ones being harmed.

"I try to talk to the referees, but they laugh in my face and create a great discomfort. I want explanations, but they don't care. When they enter the locker room, the players ask me, 'Why us?' They are players who are just starting out and have no protection. What do I tell them? That it's my fault, the system's fault, the statutes' fault, and the president's fault?" he concluded.
