Universitario de Deportes became the champion of the Clausura-2023 tournament this Sunday and will compete in the final of the league against their arch-rival Alianza Lima.
Universitario won the title by defeating Sport Huancayo 2-0 in the last game, with goals from Edison Flores at the 11th minute and Horacio Calcaterra at the 78th minute.
The team led by veteran Uruguayan coach Jorge Fossati secured their spot in the final in the match played at the Monumental Stadium in Lima.
Universitario and Alianza Lima, winners of the Apertura, will define the next champion in two-legged matches on November 4th and 8th. Both Lima teams have qualified for the group stage of the Copa Libertadores 2024.
