Presea Estado de México

Year after year, as part of the celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the State of Mexico, the ceremony of awarding the "Estado de México Presea" is held; which is the highest distinction that the government awards to personalities who have excelled in different activities, such as science, arts and letters, youth, teaching, and not to mention sports, among others.

In this edition, Professor Nelson Vargas will be the recipient of the Estado de México Presea "Filiberto Navas Valdés" in the category of Sports Promotion, thanks to his hard work in sports promotion in the country.

Thanks to this, Nelson Vargas aquatic teams and branches in the metropolitan area have represented the State of Mexico for more than 20 years in national and international aquatic activities.

The "Filiberto Navas Valdés" presea is the recognition of Outstanding Athlete and Promotion and Impulse to Sports. The history of this award dates back to 1983 when it recognized marathon runner Fidel Negrete Gamboa, who was the first Mexican to win the gold medal at the Pan American Games in 1963 and flag bearer of the Mexican delegation that attended the Olympic Games in 1964.

Another case where Professor Nelson Vargas and sports in the State of Mexico are related is that of Guillermo Cruz Zúñiga. He is a swimmer representing ANV and the State of Mexico, who is one of the swimmers with the greatest projection for the country and is the current recipient of the State Sports Award of the State of Mexico for his great participation in the National Olympic Games of 2017.

The Presea Award Ceremony will take place on Friday, March 2nd at the Morelos Theater in Toluca, State of Mexico.
