Platense Gastón Mazzacane takes pole position in Turismo Carretera

Platense Gastón Mazzacane, with Chevrolet, takes pole position in Turismo Carretera ahead of the opening of the specialty tournament, which will take place tomorrow in Viedma, Río Negro.

Mazzacane, who secured his fifth pole in TC, set a time of 1m30s453 to cover the 4.118 meters of the "Ciudad de Viedma" racetrack, at an average speed of 163.895 km/h.

The runners-up were Juan Martín Trucco from Buenos Aires and Christian Ledesma from Mar del Plata (both with Chevrolet).

Following them were the current champion Agustín Canapino from Arrecifes (Chevrolet), Facundo Ardusso (Torino), Jonatan Castellano, and Juan Marcos Angelini, both with Dodge.

The top ten was completed by Guillermo Ortelli from Salto (Chevrolet), Matías Rossi from Del Viso (Ford), and Emiliano Spataro from Lanús (Torino).

Today, TC will run its three qualifying series, with five rounds each, at 9, 9:30, and 10, respectively, and the final race will start at 13:10 for 25 laps or fifty minutes.

The supporting race, TC Pista, held its two qualifying series yesterday, with five laps each, and the first one was won by Marcelo Agrelo from Chubut (Ford), and the second one was won by Juan Cruz Benvenuti from Neuquén (Torino).

TC Pista will have its final race today at 11:20 for 20 laps or a maximum duration of forty minutes.

The last winner in Viedma was Julián Santero from Guaymallén, Mendoza (Torino), on February 19, 2017, in what was his first victory in TC.

Meanwhile, the track record is held by Luis José Di Palma from Arrecifes (Torino), with a time of 1m29s192 at 168.212 km/h achieved in qualifying on February 18, 2017.
