The victory in the doubles match by Max Purcell and Matthew Ebden against Dominic Stricker and Marc-Andrea Huesler rounded off Australia's 3-0 win over Switzerland and secured their place in the Final Eight in Malaga.
Lleyton Hewitt's team secured their qualification without dropping a single set against an already eliminated opponent. In the doubles, they won 6-2 and 6-4 in 74 minutes.
Previously, Australia won both singles matches. Thanasi Kokkinakis defeated Dominic Stricker 6-3 and 7-5, and then Alex De Miñaur beat Marc Andrea Huesler 6-4 and 6-3.
On Sunday, Great Britain and France will compete for the other spot in Group D of the Davis Cup being held in Manchester.
