The 31st edition of the Mexican Open Tennis will feature 20 players who are within the top 20 of the ATP world ranking, so from February 26 to March 2, 2024, Acapulco will have a highly competitive tournament.
Five racquet players who are now within the top ten will compete in this ATP 500, and they are Danish Holger Rune (4), Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (5), American Taylor Fritz (8), Norwegian Casper Ruud (9), and German Alexander Zverev (10). While the racquet players who are within the top 20 are American Frances Tiafoe (11), American Tommy Paul (13), Italian Lorenzo Musetti (18), Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (19), and the young American promise Ben Shelton (20).
"It is an unprecedented initial list for the tournament, which shows how well these top 20 players feel accompanying us, and we hope that the general public will see the effort that Mextenis makes to bring the best names that currently exist in the world ranking," said Álvaro Falla, CEO of Mextenis.
The Mexican Open Tennis in Acapulco will now be held one week after the Los Cabos Open, so the organizers feel that the players will take both tournaments to get into a good rhythm towards the Indian Wells event.
"Many tennis players will try to take advantage of both tournaments and will seek to stop by Mexico in preparation for Indian Wells, considering that the points and the prize money they offer are not minor matters," Falla mentioned.
