Uruguay beat Uzbekistan 3-0 in a friendly match played last night in Montevideo, which served as a farewell for the Uruguayan national team before leaving for Russia.

Managed by Oscar Washington Tabarez, they came out pressing from the first minute, but encountered an organized Uzbek defense that resorted to counterattack.

The South American pressure paid off at 31 minutes, thanks to Giorgian De Arrascaeta, who scored the opening goal for the home team.

In the second half, Brazilian referee Raphael Claus awarded a penalty in favor of Uruguay for a handball by Rustam Ashurmatov. Luis Suarez did not miss the opportunity and scored the second goal at 52 minutes.

The third goal for the Celeste came at 72 minutes after a corner kick from Carlos Sanchez, who crossed the ball for defender Jose Maria Gimenez to head it in and seal the result.

Uruguay will depart for Russia on Saturday. The South American team is part of Group A in the tournament, along with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the host country.
