Peruvian football player overcomes obstacles to reach World Cup
In football, as we know, not everything is rosy. For talents to become consolidated, they have to go through a series of hardships and they also have to deal with those who take advantage of their position to profit from children's dreams. That is precisely what happened to a member of the Peruvian national team who will play in the 2018 World Cup in less than a month.
This is Anderson Santamaría, who in an interview on the "Domingo al día" program recounted that in 2009 they tried to charge him to join a team in the capital. Disappointed, he left football and started studying.
"They told me that if I wanted to belong to Municipal the following year (2009), I would have to pay. From that moment, I decided to abandon football and in 2009 I studied the whole year. I told my parents: 'you know, this is as far as I go'," narrated 'The Peruvian Wall', as he is called in Mexico.
His destiny was written
Fortunately, in 2010, the native of Tingo María returned to his true passion and that same year he made his professional debut with Inti Gas (Ayacucho), as it was then called. From there he went to León de Huánuco, FBC Melgar, and Puebla in Mexico, his current team. And of course, he also wore the national team jersey, which he will now defend in Russia 2018.
In the same report, the huanuqueño sent a message to the Peruvian fans. "(To the fans I would say) to trust this group that is preparing to achieve good results, that we will give our all if possible to defend our colors and represent them in the best way," concluded Santamaría, who turned 26 last January.
