World Cup team composed exclusively with local players

Prior to the 1970 Mexico World Cup, the Peruvian National Team still lived under an absurd rule: playing abroad meant saying goodbye to the national team since the beginning of the previous decade and extended until a few years later. Although some players still played in other leagues, Didí had to form a team entirely from the national league. Can you imagine what Ricardo Gareca would do in a similar situation?

In his last call-up, the 'Tiger' only summoned seven local players. Miguel Araujo, Carlos Cáceda and Aldo Corzo were the only ones who played, while Carvallo, Duarte, Loyola and Siucho were left wanting. In a team entirely composed of national league players, the goalkeeper position seems clear. Leao Butrón might get a chance there.

In defense, the fixed right back is Aldo Corzo, and the ideal substitute would be Cord Cleque. On the other hand, Nilson Loyola and Jair Céspedes would be the left backs. Keep an eye on Manuel Corrales and Iván Santillán, who performed well in the Torneo de Verano. As center-backs, Adrián Zela and Miguel Araujo are the only ones Ricardo Gareca has ever called up, and we would add Jean Pierre Fuentes, who played well for Melgar.
