Lima lit the flame of the Parapan American Games on Friday with an artistic spectacle about the ancient cultures of Peru, in an opening day where the first medals were awarded in table tennis.

During the inauguration ceremony at the National Stadium, a totem was exhibited, made up of three multicolored obelisks resembling the famous Tello Obelisk of the pre-Inca Chavín de Huántar culture from northern Peru.

During the evening show in the presence of 40,000 spectators, including Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra, the Parapan American flame was lit, celebrating its sixth edition.
