In that sense, the coach decided to explain the reasons why the player has not yet made his debut in the 2026 Qualifiers with Peru. While he praised the player, he also made it clear that he is waiting for the right match to put him in the team.
"Piero has shown growth. Today it is not only important that he plays well, but also that he has control of the situation. To put a player on the field, it's because his teammates trust him. His teammates give him confidence. More than earning the coach's trust, it's about earning the trust of your teammates. Piero has that credibility today, not only in local football," he said in an interview with Diego Rebagliati from Movistar Deportes.
He then added, "What is the most complicated part for us? It's finding the right moment. You can't put everyone in at the same time, you have to search for them. Surely Piero Quispe will go through the same thing as Grimaldo. At some point in an open match with more spaces, Piero will make a difference. That's the intention, to find the right moment for him so that it's not a situation where we anticipate that he will struggle and we have the bad luck of losing him."
Juan Reynoso talked about Franco Zanelatto and Joao Grimaldo
In addition to commenting on Piero Quispe, Juan Reynoso also stated that Franco Zanelatto and Joao Grimaldo are important prospects for the Peruvian national team.
"Piero is the future. Surely in the medium or short term, he will be the present of the national team, just like Bryan Reyna, Franco Zanelatto or Joao Grimaldo," he said.
