Throughout the 2023 Liga 1, Alianza Lima, Universitario, and Sporting Cristal have had good and bad moments, the worst being when they had to travel to high-altitude cities. In that regard, there is a place where none of the three clubs has been able to win and where some have even lost their way in the championship: Cusco.

As you read, the imperial city has been unconquerable for the three most popular teams in Peru, and it is because this season they have had to travel there three times because there are the same number of teams in the Liga 1: Cusco FC, Cienciano, and Deportivo Garcilaso. To date, none of them have been able to get the three points.
How did Alianza, Universitario, and Cristal perform in Cusco?
We will start with Universitario de Deportes, who visited Cusco for the first time this season on matchday 10 of the Apertura Tournament, when they drew 0-0 with Deportivo Garcilaso. Then, at the beginning of the Clausura, they drew 1-1 with Cienciano and recently shared points with Cusco FC with the same score.
On the other hand, Sporting Cristal drew 4-4 with Deportivo Garcilaso on matchday 8 of the Apertura, suffered a 4-1 defeat against Cusco FC on matchday 16 of the Clausura Tournament, and recently lost 1-0 to Cienciano, in a match that ended up eliminating their chances of winning the second tournament of the season.
Finally, Alianza Lima has also been unable to win in this difficult venue, as they drew 1-1 with Cusco FC on matchday 8 of the Clausura and 0-0 with Cienciano on matchday 10. However, the Alianza Lima team can end this negative streak this week, as they will face Deportivo Garcilaso away from home for the end of the competition.
