By means of a statement, the Ministry of the Interior requested the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) to modify the schedules of the Liga 1 matches scheduled from July 16th to 31st in Lima. This is due to the mobilization called the "III Toma de Lima".
"Request the rescheduling of local tournament sporting events, scheduled from July 16th to 31st, 2023, in the city of Lima taking into account that different guilds, social organizations, and the general public have announced the realization of social protests called the "III Toma de Lima," the statement observes.
As it is a massive call where people from different regions of the country will come to the capital to protest against the presidency and the Congress. It was known that agents of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) will distribute a larger number of personnel to the marches.
"This makes it necessary to maximize the use of police personnel belonging to this police division, in order to control public order in the vicinity of the Government Palace, Congress of the Republic, as well as in other public and private entities," the statement reads.
PERUVIAN CLASSIC AT RISK
By scheduling the "III Toma de Lima" from the second half of July, the match between Alianza Lima and Universitario, which is to be played in round 5, would be at risk of not being played at Matute.
