In July of this 2022, after almost 10 months without a team focusing on recovering from a severe injury suffered in 2020, Paolo Guerrero signed with a club in the Brasileirao. The modest Avaí, recently promoted to the top category of Brazilian football, welcomed the 'Predator', who has not yet been able to repay the trust placed in him with goals.
With only six matchdays left in the championship, the all-time top scorer of the Peruvian national team is at serious risk of going scoreless in a season for the first time, as he has missed the last two matches due to injury and is not included in the squad for the game against league leaders Palmeiras this Saturday.
The situation of his team is also discouraging: with 28 points, Avaí is second to last in the standings, six points away from escaping the relegation zone, which sends four clubs down. Guerrero and the Peruvian national team
