ESPN commentators didn't know Marcos López and mistook him for a college student.

Feyenoord, new team of Marcos López, won 1-0 away to RKC Waalwijk for the third round of the Eredivisie. The Peruvian defender was not considered for this match but he was accompanying the squad in one of the stands.

When focused by one of the broadcast cameras, Marcos López was not recognized by the ESPN announcers. The Peruvian national team player was mistaken for a student. "Who will this university boy be, we'll see who he is". "Surely he closed the bookstore and came to watch the game".

Marcos López arrived at Feyenoord from San Jose Earthquakes in Major League Soccer. In Peru, the defender played for Universidad San Martín and Sporting Cristal.

López is the fourth Peruvian in the league of the Netherlands. The other Peruvians are Gonzalo Sánchez, Fernando Pacheco, and Miguel Araujo, all of them in FC Emmen.
