The coach of the Peruvian National Team, Ricardo Gareca, gave a press conference on Sunday alongside goalkeeper and captain Pedro Gallese. He always showed his respect for Australia but highlighted the quality and good moment of the team to secure a spot in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
"I've had important moments in my life, but this is a beautiful opportunity. A World Cup is a privilege for a few. It is an extraordinary moment in my career that we want to take advantage of," said Gareca, who recalled the work of the Peruvian National Team during the South American qualifiers.
"This is the moment we want to experience, the work we have been doing throughout the qualifiers, and this is what we are aiming for," added the 64-year-old coach.
Gareca is convinced that the match against Australia will be tough for both teams, but he believes in the power of the team that will seek its second consecutive World Cup appearance on Monday, June 13.
"We are very convinced of our ability. We have prepared for this, we value being in this situation," concluded Gareca.
