An eventful match on the final day of the United Arab Emirates league, which cost Wilder Cartagena an expulsion before joining the Peruvian National Team to face the playoffs for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
This Thursday, Al-Ittihad Kalba, a team that includes Peruvian midfielder Wilder Cartagena, faced Baniyas as a visitor in a match that was only for completing the schedule; however, it came with three red cards.
Just 2 minutes into the game, Al-Ittihad Kalba lost their first player and a few moments later they were already losing 1-0. The match was getting complicated and before half-time, Wilder Cartagena, who was a starter, also headed to the locker room.
The Peruvian National Team midfielder left the field after the VAR review. Cartagena hit an elbow to the face of an opponent and although he explained that he did not see the position of the affected player, he was still sent off.
Al-Ittihad Kalba lost another player, but with eight players, they managed to equalize the match, which ended with them in tenth position in the United Arab Emirates league.

After finishing the season in the United Arab Emirates, Wilder Cartagena will join the concentration of the national team in Barcelona.
The playoffs for the 2022 Qatar World Cup will take place in Doha on Monday, June 13 at 1:00 p.m. (Peruvian time) at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium. It will be a single match, so the Peruvian National Team will play all their cards to qualify for the World Cup.
Their opponent will be the winner of the Asian playoff between Australia and the United Arab Emirates. This match will take place on Monday, June 7.
