One of the news that surprised millions of Peruvians was the presence of Carles Puyol in San Juan de Lurigancho, as the former Barcelona captain walked the streets of Lima, with the aim of fulfilling a commercial contract established with Scotiabank.

On Saturday, May 21, a press conference was held by the brand and by Carles Puyol, in which they gave details of the reasons for his visit to Lima, as well as his feelings about being on Peruvian soil for this commercial that was filmed in San Juan de Lurigancho.
To top it off, Carles Puyol was asked about the present of the Peruvian National Team with a view to the playoff match. Upon learning the list of call-ups, the world champion in South Africa 2010 praised the work of Ricardo Gareca and asked for continuous support for the team in good times and bad.
"Congratulations on the work accomplished. I believe that a great group has been formed and that's how things are achieved. The advice I would give to the Peru National Team is to work together in good times and bad", declared Carles Puyol.
Carles Puyol was clear about the unity that a team must have when pursuing important goals such as reaching a World Cup. He cited the example of what Spain did in the 2010 World Cup, where the key to success was unity at all times.

The match of the Peruvian National Team in the World Cup playoff is scheduled for Monday, June 13 at 1:00 PM Peru time (9:00 PM Doha time). The opponent will be the winner between Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
