This Friday, May 20th, Ricardo Gareca, coach of the Peruvian national team, announced the players called up for the playoff to the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The list included recurring names in the 'Tigre's' calls, but there were also some absences and surprises.
The Argentine coach named 28 players from the national and international scene, who will travel to Spain and subsequently arrive in Qatar. First, they will face New Zealand, a country that will compete in the playoff against Costa Rica, and then, the Blanquirroja will face Australia or the United Arab Emirates for their ticket to the World Cup.
Among the nominees, the return of Pedro Aquino stood out, who returned to the Blanquirroja after not being considered in the last few matches of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers due to problems with an injury. Due to his continuity and good performance, the 'Rock' will be part of the Peruvian delegation.

"Pedro has evolved very well. He is in continuity. We are very pleased with what he has shown in recent times. We have to wait and see how he is progressing to define the matches against New Zealand and the other one," said the coach.
Likewise, another surprise was André Carrillo, who suffered a serious injury against Uruguay, causing doubts about his participation in the playoff. Finally, Gareca stated that he trusts in his recovery and called him up in the list of 28: "We believe he will make it."
