The president of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) presented a complaint to FIFA against the Brazilian referee Anderson Daronco for his performance in the match between Peru vs Uruguay, for matchday 17 of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers.
"The FPF informs that a strong complaint was submitted last Friday to FIFA regarding the performance of referee Anderson Daronco, for the publicly known incidents," the statement said.
They would seek to "set a precedent"
"The FPF expects a prompt response from FIFA following the regular procedure. Meanwhile, the Peruvian National Team continues its concentrated preparation for the crucial match against the Paraguayan national team on March 29," it added.
The complaint would focus on the incorrect application of the use of VAR in the play initiated by Miguel Trauco, in which the Uruguayan goalkeeper Sergio Rochet failed to control the ball properly. The Peruvian national team and the FPF would seek to "set a precedent" for the VAR protocol to be respected.
