The first big absentee. Raul Ruidiaz will miss the friendly matches that the Peruvian national team will play against Uruguay, in Lima and Montevideo, because he was not called up by Ricardo Gareca. The coach explained the absence.
Ricardo Gareca explained that Raul Ruidiaz's absence in this call-up is due to a personal decision in order to give the opportunity to other players on the team. That is why he only called up 23 players.
"Raul Ruidiaz has been in almost every call-up except for a special request. In that case, since we have extensive knowledge of him, we want to give opportunities to other players knowing Raul's abilities," Ricardo Gareca said.
The national team forward had already been absent from a call-up for the friendly matches against Paraguay and El Salvador in March of this year. On that occasion, it was an express request from the attacker that Ricardo Gareca confirmed.
