Federico Cúneo, former president of Sporting Cristal, did not hide his dissatisfaction and confusion over the selection of Innova Sports as the new owner of the club, after participating as a bidder in the purchase of the institution and not finding a satisfactory outcome in his favor in the negotiations.

The proposal chosen by Backus y Johnston "carries its risks," warned the former beer executive on Friday through the Rpp signal, in a conversation with the program Fútbol Como Cancha.

"They are going from being a subsidiary of one of the world's largest companies to a company that I really do not know," emphasized Cúneo referring to Innova Sports, warning of the great responsibility that falls on the new owning company.

"I do not know these gentlemen, I know they are in the business of football pitches and one of them is an agent of players. This has been a year of bad decisions and I hope this is not one more," added the former head of Sporting Cristal.

Previously, Federico Cúneo acknowledged that he expected a different outcome in the sales process, surprised by the final decision.

"A Backus executive wrote me on WhatsApp saying that they had opted for the other alternative. We had worked hard on a reasonable financial proposal, with an advanced commercial plan, with which we intended to completely transform the club, especially the stadium part, and continue with the philosophy of Backus. I felt that we had a winning proposal but I found this other reality," highlighted the director at the beginning of the communication.

"Our proposal was competitive from an economic, development, and commercial point of view. I would have liked to be here to close the conversations. I had a 10-day work trip to Europe, I asked if we could talk until the 25th and although they said yes, one day before traveling they told me no. Unfortunately, I could not break my commitments abroad and I left the investment bank in charge to speak with them," he added in that sense.
