Duras críticas contra el más experimentado de la selección peruana Sub 23
Mauricio Montes is one of the 3 players over 23 years old who are part of the 'Ñol' Solano team in the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, but César 'Chalaca' Gonzales disagrees with the forward's call-up from Ayacucho FC.
"The 'Ñol' team is the future of Peru, but I can't understand how a future selection includes Mauricio Montes, who is 37 years old, while the 20-year-olds have never been part of the national team," said 'Chalaca' Gonzales to Expreso newspaper.
"There are several players in the senior team who deserve a change and should give way to the next ones, who are the U-23 players. We need to make changes in the senior team and those changes should be the future U-23 players, not the over 37 ones," added the coach about the forward.
Furthermore, the coach asked for the opportunity to be given to young players like Sebastián Gonzales Zela: "I believe Montes is not at an age to continue being called up for the U-23 team. We have to give an opportunity to Sebastián Gonzales Zela," he added.
Finally, 'Chalaca' dared to mention Claudio Pizarro: "If you don't want to take a young player and you want to take a specialist, take Pizarro at 41 years old," he concluded.
