One day before the match between the Peruvian National Team vs the Uruguay National Team for the quarterfinals of the Copa América 2019, Uruguayan coach Óscar Washington Tabárez spoke about the duel against the Peruvian team, ensuring that Peru's victory over Brazil (5-0) was an atypical result and that they will face the best version of Ricardo Gareca's boys.
"I don't know what influence the 5-0 defeat to Brazil can have. We believe that the opponent will give their best. We are prepared to face the best Peru", said the coach of the Uruguayan National Team in a press conference.
Similarly, the coach of the Uruguayan National Team considered that the heavy defeat suffered by the Peruvian National Team was an accident: "What happened against Brazil was a football accident and they (Peru) have an opportunity. If we had the same opportunity, we would face it with everything we have and we believe that will happen", added Óscar Washington Tabárez.
On the other hand, Óscar Washington Tabárez warned that Peru will arrive at the field with the same hopes as his team, regardless of the recent match: "We come with expectations, but we know that a rival with the same illusions as us is coming", he pointed out.
"I know that matches create expectations, but we shouldn't think that matches are played beforehand. Reality has slapped me in the face", added Óscar Washington Tabárez.
Peru and Uruguay will face each other on Saturday, June 29th for a place in the semifinals of the Copa América 2019, a stage where Brazil and Argentina are already present. The match is scheduled for 2:00 pm (Peruvian time) at the Arena Fonte Nova.
