The storm continues at the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF). The letters that Edwin Oviedo made public this Sunday have not calmed the concerns of the FPF board, and one of its vice presidents has demanded an emergency meeting.

This is Franklin Chuquizuta, vice president of the federation, who has called on Edwin Oviedo to make a public statement and clarify his situation, to convene an emergency board meeting, and to explain why an Audit Commission was formed without the approval of the board.

"First, we want them to express themselves to the public and clarify their real situation within the judicial issue. Second, we want the board to convene an emergency meeting so that we all have the freedom to express our point of view. And third, we reject the people who make up an advisory committee that has not been approved by the FPF board," said Chuquizuta to RPP radio station.

Chuquizuta indicated that a notarized letter was sent to Edwin Oviedo in which they ask, in addition to the meeting, for him to reconsider and resolve pending issues in the FPF. These would be the renewal of Ricardo Gareca and the permanence of Juan Carlos Oblitas as sports director.

"The notarized letter to Oviedo has been sent within the established deadline and it seems that the president's advisors are not making him see that it is appropriate, for the health of sports and the FPF, to have a meeting and establish the points that should mark the agenda from now on," expressed the board member.

"We are nine members of the board and seven of us are asking for an emergency board meeting to express our point of view for the benefit of Peruvian football," concluded Chuquizuta.

In these letters, Edwin Oviedo denied taking advantage of his position in the FPF to give away tickets and trips to the 2018 World Cup in exchange for favors in the Judiciary. He also referred to his friendship with Antonio Camayo and distanced himself from any act that would tarnish his honor.
