Lozano would have increased his wealth by more than S/2.8 million when he was mayor of Chongoyape.

The Special Prosecutor's Office for Crimes of Official Corruption in Lambayeque requested a prison sentence of six years and eight months against Agustín Lozano Saavedra, president of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), for the crime of illicit enrichment.

According to the fiscal accusation, Lozano would have abused his position as mayor of Chongoyape to illicitly increase his wealth by more than S/2.8 million, without being able to justify said imbalance.

As you may recall, the president of the FPF served as mayor of the district of Chongoyape in Lambayeque for the 2011-2014 and 2014-2018 periods representing the Alianza Para el Progreso party.

In 2018, he assumed the position of president of the Federation. This came after the arrest of Edwin Oviedo, the former president of the entity. Three years later, in 2021, Lozano was elected president until 2025.

It is worth mentioning that this would not be the first time that Lozano Saavedra is investigated by the Public Ministry. A few years ago, he was accused of money laundering in the case of ticket resale during the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
