What does Mexico need to qualify for the round of 16?
The Mexican national team must win against Saudi Arabia to have any chance of advancing to the round of 16 in Qatar 2022. Any other result would eliminate them.
Once this victory is achieved, if Poland defeats Argentina, Mexico would qualify by earning 4 points, while Argentina would have 3. Otherwise, if Argentina defeats Poland, the qualification would be decided by goal difference. The Polish team has +2 and the Mexican team has -2, so they would have to score several goals against Saudi Arabia.
In case the Argentina vs. Poland match ends in a draw, Mexico would be obliged to score more than 3 goals against the Arabs to leave Argentina in third place.
