The América will have to appeal to its history of comebacks to reach the final of the Concacaf Champions League after losing 3-1 to Toronto FC of the MLS in the first leg of the semifinals.

The Eagles complicated their life in the tournament. On Tuesday night they were surpassed, in the middle of a freezing climate, with rain, with a bad field and a very uncomfortable rival that had already eliminated the Tigres and now prevailed with goals from Sebastian Giovinco, from penalty, Jozy Altidore and Ashtone Morgan; Andrés Ibargüen scored for the Mexican team.

On the eve, coach Miguel Herrera said that the MLS was competing with Mexico and at the same time the Liga MX with Europe, but that difference was not seen on the field, perhaps that is why the "Piojo" got into a severe discussion with Toronto elements in the tunnel towards the dressing rooms.

Sebastian Giovinco was fouled by Edson Álvarez at 7' and the referee signaled the penalty, which the Italian forward executed correctly despite Guido Rodríguez telling him something before the shot.

América responded with a great goal from Ibargüen, who with pure skill overcame three defenders, including the always complicated Michael Bradley, before shooting high, near the crossbar.

The MLS champion demonstrated its strength and at 44' Giovinco assisted Altidore, who shredded Carlos Vargas before scoring the advantage goal with a shot across, close to the right post of Agustín Marchesín.

In the second half, Toronto's dominance was greater. Giovinco had already made the American defenders look bad, but the third goal, courtesy of Ashtone Morgan, was a great collective play as he started the play himself in which Marco Delgado and Auro intervened.

In the 84th minute, Henry Martín missed a one-on-one, after a filtered pass from Oribe Peralta.

Next Wednesday at the Estadio Azteca, América will have to show its hierarchy if it wants to be a finalist in the "Concachampions". It requires a 2-0 to win the series or a 3-1 to send the series to penalties.
