Gonzalo Plata was a protagonist in Al Sadd's 6-0 victory in the Asian Champions League. The Ecuadorian footballer scored the third goal and provided an assist for the fourth in the match against Al-Faisaly of Saudi Arabia.
The right winger was not called up by coach Félix Sánchez Bas for Matchdays 3 and 4 of the South American Qualifiers. He did play in the match against Argentina, but did not get any minutes in the game against Uruguay.
In Monday's match, on October 23, Plata successfully finished a counterattack by his team and skillfully scored the 3-0. The Ecuadorian was on the field until the 70th minute.
This was Plata's first goal in this tournament and his third goal this season with the Qatari team.
Gonzalo Plata has not been a regular starter for Al Sadd. His goal is to become one of the team's fixed 11 and thus return to the Ecuadorian National Team.
