Eduardo Berizzo, coach of the Chilean National Team, speaks after victory over the Peruvian National Football Team at the Monumental de Santiago
In a press conference, the strategist of "La Roja" acknowledged the superiority of his team and highlighted the high pressure they applied from the beginning of the match, as well as the individual performances of the Chileans.
"We practically didn't have any situations against us. They didn't generate anything. We pressed very well. We subjected a team that plays well on the counterattack, that plays fast with their midfielders. With very good performances from the entire team. We faced difficulties within the match that we had to overcome. So I'm happy with the individual performances. Many very good individual performances," he said.
However, Berizzo confessed that the goals by the team with the lone star came when they had done the least merit: "We started lower than we had finished, then we resumed and the goals come perhaps when we had done the least merit in the second half, but taking into account what we did in the first half I think we are deserving winners against a complex opponent, against a team that plays well," he said.
