FIFA announced that they are investing $1.696 billion for the 2022 World Cup, in addition to the amount invested by Qatar, reaching a staggering $200 billion. Nine stadiums have been built and three have been renovated, with additional expenses that make the total amount even higher.

Requirements for Hosting a World Cup

One of the requirements to host a World Cup is to have a minimum of 12 stadiums with a minimum capacity of 40,000 spectators. Furthermore, one of the stadiums must hold at least 80,000 fans, making it eligible to host the opening and final matches.

Economic Impact

Qatar is expecting a $20 billion boost to its economy with this investment.
