The Peruvian National Team's impressive victory

The Peruvian National Team's resounding 3-0 victory over Bolivia is causing a lot of talk, not only because of the dominance imposed by the national team against the 'altiplánicos', but also because of the position in which it stands in the Qualifiers.

With five matches remaining to define the teams that will qualify for the World Cup, the national team is inviting a possible participation in the most acclaimed global tournament for national teams due to its situation at the end of matchday 13 of the Russia 2018 Qualifiers.

Despite having one point more at this stage of the previous edition, the Peruvian national team has an encouraging present as it is now closer to its rivals in the qualification zone for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

At the end of matchday 13 of the Russia 2018 Qualifiers, Ricardo Gareca's team occupied the eighth position with 15 points, 5 points behind the fifth-placed team (Ecuador). It should be noted that Peru closed that qualifying process in eighth place.

After playing matchday 13 of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers, the Peruvian National Team is in seventh place with 14 points, just 2 points behind the fifth and fourth-placed teams, occupied by Colombia and Chile respectively.

The national team still has to face Venezuela (away), Colombia (away), Ecuador (home), Uruguay (away), and Paraguay (home), matches in which they must earn three points at home and snatch some points away in order to have a chance of qualifying for the World Cup.
