Peru vs. Chile always generates reactions before, during, and after. This time was no exception. It was the 69th minute of the match between the Peruvian National Team when a fight broke out between Gary Medel and Alexander Callens, resulting in a yellow card for both. However, neither Christian Ferreyra, the main referee of the match, nor the VAR officials noticed any aggression involved.
While the Chilean and the Peruvian were facing each other after a quick play by the 'Roja', Erick Pulgar hit Marcos Lopez in the face. Despite the cameras showing the aggression in detail, it went unnoticed by the match officials.
However, minutes later, the usual defender -now winger- of the Peruvian National Team struck back with a kick to Gary Medel. This action could have also resulted in a direct red card, but once again, it was not observed by the officials.
Finally, the match ended without further complications. The Peruvian team earned three important points after winning 2-0 against their southern counterpart, with goals from Christian Cueva and Sergio Pena. Their next opponents will be Bolivia and Argentina, both away.
