Both the Chilean and Peruvian national teams will play for the chance to keep their hopes of qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. However, both teams will have notable absences in their lineups.
With the obligation to win
Martín Lasarte, coach of the Chilean national team, will have to deal with the lack of several important elements in his squad due to suspensions and injuries.
Among them is Arturo Vidal, the player from Inter Milan and emblem of the southern team, who will not be present against the Peruvian national team due to accumulating yellow cards and having to serve a one-match suspension. However, it is announced from Chile that he would be included in the trip to Lima to boost the morale of his teammates.
Eduardo Vargas
Another Chilean who will not be able to play for Chile is Eduardo Vargas, as he suffered a sprained right ankle while playing a match with his team, Atlético Mineiro.
Others who have suffered injuries and will not be in the match on Thursday, October 7, are Bastián Yáñez (soleus), Eugenio Mena (right hamstring), and Francisco Sierralta (left biceps femoris tear).
Without considering these components of the Chilean national team, Martín Lasarte will field the following starting eleven: Claudio Bravo; Mauricio Isla, Gary Medel, Guillermo Maripán, Sebastián Vegas; Erick Pulgar, Tomás Alarcón, Charles Aránguiz; Alexis Sánchez, Felipe Mora, and Ben Brereton.
