After Germany's historic 6-0 victory against Spain, a large majority of German fans want coach Joachim Löw to leave, according to a survey published on Thursday.
84% of the 1100 fans of the Mannschaft surveyed agree with Löw and Oliver Bierhoff, director of the German Football Federation (DFB) and direct superior of the coach, according to the survey conducted by the sports agency SID, a German subsidiary of AFP.
Only 13.3% would like the duo to continue in the national team, which won the World Cup in 2014 under their leadership.
Low, 60, has been heavily criticized following the biggest defeat remembered. Germany hadn't lost by a six-goal margin since a friendly against Austria in 1931.
But after several crisis meetings with federation president Fritz Keller on Wednesday, it was decided that Löw would continue until Euro 2021 in June.
Two years after the 2018 World Cup, where Germany was eliminated in the group stage, the Mannschaft has not fully recovered, until the humiliation against Spain, who qualified for the final phase of the Nations League.
If Löw leaves, Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp and Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick are among the favorites of German fans to take over the national team. (D)
