A jersey worn by Pelé in his last match with the Brazilian national team was sold for 30,000 euros (33,300 dollars) in a prestigious sports auction held on Thursday in Turin.
The legendary N.10 of Brazil wore the jersey in a friendly match against Yugoslavia played in July 1971 at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro. It was his international farewell.
Among other highlights of the auction hosted by Bolaffi, a yellow jersey worn by Fausto Coppi in the 1952 Tour de France was sold for 25,000 euros, the second and final one won by the 'Campionissimo'.
An unusual blue jersey of Juventus, worn by Luciano Spinosi in the final of the Cup of Fairs in 1971 (later UEFA Cup and current Europa League), was awarded for 9,400 euros, slightly more than a N.10 jersey worn by Diego Maradona in Napoli in the 1989-1990 season, sold for 7,500 euros.
In addition, a bat used by Michael Jordan in his brief stint in baseball was sold for 425 euros. (I)
