The Madridista Abner continues in free fall. The Brazilian full-back from Castilla, who was on loan at Estoril, returns to the Spanish capital before completing his loan after the Portuguese team decided to terminate it due to his poor adaptation and low performance, according to A Bola.

Ramón Martínez signed him from Curitiba in Brazil for free three seasons ago. He beat Roma, who had very advanced negotiations with the player. When he arrived at Valdebebas, with the label of being the 'future Roberto Carlos', he was a Brazil U-20 international, but as soon as he arrived he suffered a serious injury to the ligaments in his left knee (later he would suffer two more in the same place). That's where his ordeal began. "It was very tough. When I got injured again, I thought about quitting football. Zidane was very important. He advised me. He told me not to give up, that I am young, that I have a lot ahead of me and that I have to keep going. That was very important. The club has helped me a lot in both injuries, they never turned their back on me," said Abner in 2016 to the official Madrid media.

A very powerful and attacking full-back, he could not play consistently for Castilla due to problems in his joint (it would get inflamed). For that reason, last August the decision was made at the Madrid club that the best thing for Abner to regain competitive rhythm was a loan. Estoril came into the picture and signed a season-long loan, but after playing 11 games (one assist) this month, they have decided, according to A Bola, to terminate it.

Abner's case is similar to that of Barcelona's Douglas. UOL reported that Benfica, who had the Barça full-back on loan until the end of the season, wanted to return him in January, but the Barcelona club refused to cancel the loan.
