Colombia went from having qualification in hand to an authentic catastrophe in the last breath.

Goals from Antonio Sanabria and Oscar Cardozo turned the score around at the end, giving Paraguay a 2-1 victory over Colombia last night, and both teams are now expectant for the final round of the World Cup qualifiers.

Radamel Falcao had put Colombia ahead in the 79th minute. But the euphoria in Barranquilla, in the Colombian Caribbean, ended in a deathly silence due to two defensive lapses and with goalkeeper David Ospina leaving balls adrift.

Colombia finished fourth with 26 points, the same as Chile, who occupies the third position. The Chileans, who defeated Ecuador 2-1, have scored more goals.

The Paraguayans made an intelligent approach and never gave up. They played on equal terms against a Colombia that couldn't maintain the rhythm it had shown in the first half.

That's why, with self-esteem and knowing that in football everything is possible, they managed to reverse the history with two almost consecutive goals, and thus the hopes of reaching the qualification to Russia resurfaced.
