The 46-year-old Argentine, a former player for Real Madrid, won the UEFA Champions League in the 2001-2002 season. He also served as the team's head coach in the 2018-19 season.
Popularly known as 'El Indiecito', he is also familiar with Peruvian midfielder Pedro Aquino, as he coached him at Club América in Mexico between 2021 and 2022.
